A segment in Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In
perfectly described today's "news" media.

The episode includes a segment where John Wayne
has a short conversation with a news anchor (Dan Rowan),
where he presents himself as a rock solid, traditional values guy.

Then Rowan says,
"Here's what an unscrupulous editor could do with that interview."
We then see Wayne's statements matched up with the anchor's questions
differently from the original interview.
The same statements placed in the changed contexts
made John Wayne sound like a total pervert!

Laugh-In presented that segment as a warning to viewers
to be careful about believing the news the way it's presented.
Today's "journalists" seem to be using that sketch as a how-to guide!

For example, when Katie Couric taped an interview of a couple of gun rights advocates,
she asked a question, and the guests immediately gave intelligent answers.
But when that segment aired, CBS had edited out the intelligent answers,
and spliced in some video of the guests sitting around, waiting to be interviewed.
They did this to make it look like the left's positions are completely valid,
and conservatives have no arguments to refute them.
