Title: Levon Helm, 1940-2012
Post by: quiller on April 20, 2012, 07:00:34 AM
Three-time (and consecutive!) Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter/actor Levon Helm has died. The drummer in Bob Dylan's legendary back-up group The Band, Helm wrote "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," and also showed up in the 2007 Mark Wahlberg film Shooter.

Here's a marvelous scene from that film (which morphs later into Helm in concert). It's well worth a look. Hat tip to The American Digest for this accompanying story and the actual link.

I only found out yesterday that he was ill. I think everyone owns "Music From Big Pink"
