Interesting link, though I didn't try playing it.

It seems logical to play the exact same numbers every time, and never stop till you win.  And make two of the numbers consecutive.   -Or do I mean 'sequential'?

I played, and after a million spent and lost, I had a net profit of 11 cents.
Lotteries are for suckers and dreamers. Playing a buck now and then is good for a morale boost, you can dream for a week that you could be a millionaire. It;'s only a buck,,,

I've been doing the logical thing "same numbers" now for about 10 years on all four (now six) California weekly Lotto drawings.  Don't win very often and the most I've ever won is $3.00.  That's costing $6.00 weekly, more, in quick picks, when there is a carryover of more than $200 million.

Problem with staying with the same numbers so long, versus quick picks or just picking random numbers is that you are hooked for life. You feel that if you stop playing because it's a waste of money the very next drawing after quitting, your numbers will come up, you'll see them on the internet or in the media, and you'll be really pissed because you just lost $654,000,000.

When I go to heaven I hope they are playing the California lottery there. I'll continue playing the same numbers and will eventually win big because eternity is a real long time.

Now I know I am a old man, but WHY would you need money in heaven.  Are there tax collector or lib up there.

This is an absolutely true story.

I went to work in a factory in the early 1970s, just about the time the Ohio Lottery began. Back then it was mainly the Pick 3 and Pick 4, with some scratch-offs. No big lotto. One of the guys I worked with, Steve X, a big red-haired Irishman, bought his tickets faithfully every Friday when we cashed our checks at a local tavern at lunchtime.

We used to give Steve shit a lot because, well, it was fun to give Steve shit. He'd turn all red in the face and start pointing his finger and such. One day, we were talking about the lottery, and somebody said, "Hey, Steve. You buy them tickets all the time. You ever win?"

"Hell, yeah!" Steve replied. "I've hit twice!"

"No shit! Wow! How much did you win?"

"I hit twenty both times."

"Hey, that's pretty cool! So how much you figure you've spent on tickets, Steve?"

"Oh... maybe 80 bucks."

Somebody had to say the obvious: "So, you're about 40 bucks in the hole then, right?"

Silence, save for the faint grinding noise of poorly-lubricated gears turning slowly between Irish ears...

And then Steve said, and I swear to Christ I'm not making this up, "How do you figure that?"

Hmm... Did anyone ever check the work that he did at work?

LOL! That kind of hits on something that happened to my neighbor.
She was telling of how screwed up her divorce was, yet still loved the guy.
I asked why the divorce, she went on to tell how he had a gambling problem, but always seemed to win, so she left him to his vice.

One day a knock at the door, the Fed seized the home and all it's contents, turned out, hubby had been winning big, like in the millions, but was loosing just as big, problem is, you can't deduct loses, the IRS only sees income, so he was into them for more than a hundred thousand in back taxes, something he had kept from her for years, till that faithful day she lost everything.

So many lessons in that.....

God is a capitalist. Jesus said  "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" Which means God and Caesar each get a piece of the pie.

In Heaven there are a lot of free benefits and somebody has to pay for them. Just like on earth, there will be people receiving entitlements and people paying for those entitlements. I want to be well-heeled in Heaven so I can live in a great neighborhood, drive a luxury car and go on extended exotic vacations.

Here and Heaven will be very similar. What will make Heaven very different is that there will be no acrimony. Everybody will be completely happy and content, no matter what their station in life. Kind of like San Francisco in the1960's.

As I remember San Francisco in the1960's.  You need to be off the streets before the sun went down.  We made that mistake our first night there, 30 minute before a cab would stop and pick us up and take us to our hotel.  We have been back to San Francisco only two other time, to go to Chinatown only for the day.

My Mom and Dad tell great stories of the 60's, especially of California and San Francisco. They were probably tripped out.

Well, there you'll see the truth of arithmetic-progression and the beauty of odds

If the tax-ppl step-in at $600.00, you'll be able to win $599.99 a variety of ways with minimal figuring.

I suspect the arrival of Nancy Puglosie coincided with the beginning of the end.
