I was too young to remember her as a mouseketeer, but I do remember this "older woman" in those movies was the first time I realized that I liked girls. Her disease made her latter years very sad. I was sorry to hear of her death.

Yeah, I think she may have been my first crush. RIP Annette

That all changed in Beach Blanket Bimbo, or whatever the name of that crap was, I moved onto Maryanne (Gilligan's Island) and Barbra Eden of I dream of Jeanie.

I remember all of her Mouseketers and movies and she was a true star and didn't have to take her clothes off to prove it.  Quite a lady.

She was smart, talented, and hot, but who teamed her up with Frankie?  I mean, c'mon...  Ricky Nelson was major, and he played guitar.

I keep her 'Blame It On The Bossanova' queued on youtube.  Screw the Steve & Edie version.

Thanks for posting...  aahhh, yeah.   I carry her/those days with me like they never left.  I think that's what Heaven is.  You can re-live it through yourself and through anyone else who shares their moments...

Annette was the likable but chaste neighbor in the frumpy beach get-up. A hair more daring in wardrobe than Hayley Mills or other Disney slaves, but not as instantly likable as Sally Field ("They really like me!")...even in a nun's costume. Sandra Dee (the other Gidget) also had her fans, but frankly looked better in a swimsuit.

Now, one of television's greatest enduring debates, in three words.....

Ginger...or Maryann?

Had a ton of Gingers in my life, it was the Maryann's that made me who I am today.
Give me an energetic woman over a shallow, self centered bimbo any day.

I now have a Maryann, and life is wonderful.

  What you have, you shallow self-centered bimbo, is the rock of your existence.

One man, one woman? You and I are only one man, but in both our cases it's not just one woman, it's WHAT a woman.

Now ask her what happened to my drinking mug.  :ttoung:

I dunno, I was into Euro-goddesses by the time that show arrived, so there was no appeal there.

Tuesday Weld was still on my radar-screen though.  -Making Denver Hollywood's luckiest beatnik.
