Title: Academy Awards - boring and sad
Post by: Dr. Meh on February 22, 2015, 09:13:37 PM
Not one person thanked God this year. Not one. We have a guy complaining that black people get arrested so much that it's worse than slavery, women don't get paid enough, being weird is good, and that Mexican immigrants may not get treated well this generation.

All that but no mention of God, ISIS, or Christians babies and children being beheaded and buried alive. No, no. They can't bring awareness to that. They have to discuss the plight of the black gang members getting arrested. Pathetic.

C'mon man, you're not surprised, are you? These people make their livings by and large defying or denying the influence of God and Christianity on our society. The worship or even recognition of God is... not something they'll do. I started to say that it's 'anathema' to them, and that's pretty close, if you assume that these people are capable of that depth of feeling. I think they aren't. I think they simply can't see God because they're just that shallow.

You're right. I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic. I thought maybe one, just one, would mention something worthwhile.

The block buster movie "American Sniper" only got one award for photography, or some such thing.  Anyone surprised?

I'm not.  I quit watching the Academy awards years ago, because of their political bias.  They rarely give awards to those they differ with politically.

No different than watching an communist medal ceremony initiated by Stalin himself.
We all know what the outcome will be, self congratulatory BS for creating propaganda and culture degrading filth.

I have some relatives in the industry so it's interesting to watch and get their take on it. Plus, you can always get a hint on where the leftist platform is going. For example, nobody mentioned gay rights or anything because the issue is as good as dead. But two focused on fake racism so I guess that's going to be the big leftist hot button fake issue for the next election. Too many black criminals who shouldn't be in jail for some reason, and people being mean to illegal immigrants.

It's really just an in-house thing.  Americans seem to like awards-shows, so I don't really have a viable opinion of the Oscars.  Whenever Johnny Carson last hosted the affair was probably the last time I watched it all the way through.

I remember when they had to tweak the show because the tech-people's speeches hogged the first half of it.

It's still like that, and always will be. If they started the show with the awards for best actor, actress, and movie, you'd turn it off and go to sleep or play hide-the-salami with the missus or watch an actually good film on TCM.

I kind of lost respect for them when I learned that studios and actors actual run formal campaigns to get the nomination and the award!
