I'm posting this here, because I can't tell whether China is playing a monumental practical joke, or what?

Now I know why this looks familiar, it looks like the giant version of a computer chip, magnified a thousand or 10 thousand times.
Has anyone else been able to view this on Google maps? The article didn't give a lat and long just that it was "in the desert". Sounds like someone having a little phun with photoshop to me!

Interesting.
The rectangle with the crisscross lines in it I have a feeling is not an actual feature on the ground, but something in the image itself. You can clearly see the ground contours through the lines. Also, to the left of the rectangle is another rectangle which is completely "filled in" and yet you can still see the ground contours.
The same goes for the big "airfield" to the north east. East of that, however, is what clearly is an airfield of some kind - probably military based on its remote location. Perhaps it is their version of our Area 51!
BTW as I type this I just happen to be wearing my Area 51 t-shirt that I bought a few years ago at the Little Ale'inn in Rachel NV! LOL It says:

I know what you mean, some simply don't follow the laws of nature, they look more like a projection in the air, rather than laid out following the contours of the ground.
Could that be what the Chinese are doing, looking for a way to hide areas from satellite?

That sounds like something they would do, too. Maybe some sort of holographic projection, or a giant tarp, though the latter seems less feasible.

Yeah,I could see them working with some kind of laser projection system.
Something that could disguise or hide what they're really doing.

Witnesses that have seen it, say it's just white gravel. My guess, is a space based targeting system, and they use the patterns to punch in specific coordinates.
They wouldn't dare use an actual reproduction of a city's streets.
It's also real possible that they just want the rest of the world to think that they're working on a weapon/targeting system.
Maybe it's a "let's fuck with the westerners again" thing.
Are you sure it's not another one of those "Ghost" cities?
