This mates well with my thread about the "Smart Meter" having the ability to track what and when you use an appliance.
Take it a step further, where they could stop your use of an appliance. They can do it already if you're on a cost savings program like the one here in Ca, when the demand on the grid hits critical, they simply turn off your air conditioner.
