I heard today that Dr Carson was a Seventh Day Adventist. This is interesting to me because i was raised SDA, I left the church when I left home and am a Calvinist Baptist now.
First off the possibility of an SDA becoming president was discussed around me on more than one occasion growing up, Adventist are almost always pacifists, I have only known one in my lifetime that wasn't although I am sure there are a few.
Next is the Saturday/Sabbath keeping, most thought being a president or politician in general would interfere with this.
Adventists are political and civic minded, elections were a big deal when I grew up, but most for the above reasons told me growing up that president was not within reach within SDA beliefs.
Who knows, this is a new one on me and a subject I did not seriously think I would ever ponder.
One more thing, I personally believe that much of the reason for Romney losing was that he was Mormon, although Adventists aren't normally considered a cult they are no doubt on the fringe of Christianity, my personal experience was that for the wrong person adventism was a step away from cults(David Koresh).
Though I do know some whacked out SDA's I know far more well balanced wonderful SDA's that are the salt of the earth.
Just some disjointed thoughts rolling around in my head waiting to be formed into an opinion.
