I may be imagining it, but so is the reporter... TEA are beginning to flood races with grass-roots candidates to force runoffs.
All of the North Texas Republican incumbents facing opposition in the coming primary — Joe Barton, Michael Burgess, Sam Johnson, Ratcliffe and Sessions — have multiple challengers.
The ever-changing core of the Republican Party, which is increasingly more conservative, could make Congress the next frontier in numerous political upsets.
(The aforementioned is Pete Sessions. Not Jeff.) Konnie Burton has already endorsed Ted Cruz, which is a good strategy on her part. Candidates that endorse Cruz early are worth remembering... Later endorsements, when Cruz is the clear frontrunner, are likely to be bandwagon gambits.
In rare races that feature no GOP incumbent, TEA will likely host public meet & greet forums as a logical strategy:

TEA's biggest GOPestablishment-incumbent challenges to unseat this year and open-seat bids:
Indiana Governor, Mike Pence...
Pennsylvania Senator, Pat Toomey... (yeah, he unseated Arlen Specter, then opted for appeasing moderates)
Louisiana Rep. Charles Boustany's open seat, as he runs for Senate as pro-business...
New York's 19th District's open House-seat...
Ohio, Boehner's empty seat...
As for TEA-incumbents, like Kansas' 1st District; Rep. Tim Huelskamp... re-elect 'em, until proven unreliable.

My Congressman is one of the ones you listed in north Texas... Sam Johnson.
I have politely pleaded with him to retire for over two years. He keeps saying he will just run for one more term. Then he runs for another.
He is so old that he has to have help going up stairs and coming down. Unfortunately, his wife passed away about three weeks ago. It was sad but all the more reason for him to go out to pasture and give his seat to someone else. But he may get sympathy votes. He is very well known around here.
We tried to unseat him two years ago but did not have a strong enough candidate. This time around we DO have a strong candidate and we stand a real chance of bringing Sam back home to Texas. Sam knows me well and hears from me often. Hopefully he will not win this primary coming up in less than two months. He is a nice man but is WAY too old for the job. We need young blood that has a lot of energy and passion for conservatism!!
You're right. He served well. There's no pressing reason for him to stay on. He's earned the right to go out on his terms. But another term would make him akin to a feudal lord, preventing another generation the opportunity to cast votes in DC for your District.
Hmm. quick!!!! Someone help me figure out how to stop Grahamnesty, Gowdy and even Tim Scott. I'll swear, I'll never underestimate the corrupt nature of men once they make their election to becoming politicians known. Women too. Nikki Haley is at the top of my discard list. She can't be governor again but I don't relish the idea of her being in the WH either-bad mistake.
Shoot! I think we've got to start all over in my state.

The biggest problem I have when talking to voters about Sam Johnson is that they believe he needs to be reelected because of his Committee Chairmanship. It is difficult to persuade them that it is not that important to our District. The sooner we start over with a new Rep the better it is for our District.
IMHO, any politician who has been there as long as Sam Johnson is tainted by the RINO system. Only new blood can envision a different way of governing and have the endurance to accomplish it. We need to start that process now!!

Like everything else he does, slower than molasses! At his age everything runs in low gear! :scared:
And he was likely motivated by his TEA opponent on March 1.
