Quote
As treasurer, Osborn reduced his staff by 28 percent in four years and won the Marquee Award for the most efficient treasurer's office, public or private, in the nation.

"How many candidates do you interview who can say they've actually shrunk government?" Osborn said, adding that he cut his personal office budget by 12 percent and brought transparency to the entire state budget.

Having traveled 7,000 miles since becoming a candidate in June, Osborn is the favorite over two Republican primary opponents: Ben Sasse, former assistant secretary of U.S. Health and Human Services, and attorney Bart McLeay, a political newcomer and litigator with the Omaha "super-firm" Kutak Rock.

A graduate of Harvard and holder of a Ph.D. from Yale, the 41-year-old Sasse ran his family's business in Fremont, Neb., and worked on Mitt Romney's transition team.
Although considered an expert on healthcare and entitlement reform, Sasse has never held office and may suffer on the party's right for his association with Romney.

While not criticizing his two opponents, Osborn was quick to point out that he is the only contender who has held elective office, adding that he is a University of Nebraska graduate, a veteran, and small businessman who has created jobs.

Asked why he retired as treasurer in 2010 after a solo term, Osborn did not flinch, saying that he and his wife were divorced during his time in office and he was awarded sole custody of their young children.

While raising his children, Osborn launched small businesses of his own, including one to help disabled veterans to find jobs. Two years ago he remarried, and his new wife has one child from a previous marriage.

We do not want a split conservative vote again.  Mark Levin interviewed Sasse a few days ago and endorsed him. He sounds quite solid so far.

FreedomWorks switched to Sasse.  At this point, FW, Beck, Palin, Levin, and Cruz support Sasse.  McConnell really hates him, so that boosts him up even more.  Sasse is even on Beck playing Constitutional March Madness.  I try to stay open, but it looks like you can put a fork in this one.

You must remember the Democrats do not have much money in their treasure for this midterm elections.  There more or less on there own, so they will not start pounding the Republicans/Conservatives with all the dirt they can dig up (or make up) until around the last two or three months.  Most Dem's are moving as far away from b o as possible.  Most can not move far enough away from him fast enough.  The smart one  have started moving some time back.  But even for they it may be just too late.

Oh, definitely.  I'm not even worried about the Dems.  This will be GOP vs. Tea Party.

Let's just hope these tough primaries do not split the GOP to the extent that we lose the general. I don't see that here in NC, but GA also concerns me. It is not an issue in AK and I don't think LA either.

I'm not as worried in GA.  If Handel were to win the primary, Broun supporters would support her, and vice versa.  I feel a strong disdain for the RINOs right now.  David Perdue is a RINO joke, and I can't imagine him getting in.

But wouldn't you say that David Perdue is closer in line with moderates like Sonny Perdue, Nathan Deal, Saxby Chambliss, and Johnny Isakson, than Paul Broun is? Plus Newt Gingrich won the 2012 primary - I don't think anyone would argue that Gingrich is anything but establishment. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your contention that Broun could win, but doesn't the recent record in Georgia statewide races point towards more establishment candidates?

Yes, which is exactly why he is the enemy.  You support this anti-American liberal destruction, but I don't.  Shame on you.  Isakson?  Are you serious?  LiberalGirl, I am going to ask you one more time to remove the "Conservative" part of your monikor, because you do not deserve it.  I'm being serious.

No.  Just because the GOP puts forth a nominee doesn't mean that is who we want.  The people you support were, and are, complicit in the destruction of our country.  Why do you support that, and want to continue?
