Dave Brat is challenging Rep. Eric Cantor in a Republican primary — and giving the House majority leader a verbal thrashing on immigration.

"Cantor is following the agenda of the Business Roundtable and the Chamber of Commerce — pursuing policies that are good for big business, but come at the exclusion of the American people," said Brat, an economics professor at Randolph-Macon College.

Brat's upstart bid against the second highest-ranking House Republican may seem quixotic. But it's part of a growing national movement to oust GOP leaders who fail conservative litmus tests.

Cantor, in Brat's view, is flunking badly on border security. Indeed, the congressman even applauded President Barack Obama's State of the Union address outlining a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

Yes, we are late out of the gate with this immigration issue. I think that must be why
the GOP did such a back pedal for 2014. No matter. We can write it off to patience, because
the longer the Democrats get away with open borders, the worse it is going to get.
After we finish clobbering the Democrats in 2014, we are going to have to get busy on the
real nuts and bolts of illegal immigration, and I am not talking about lawn care.
We need young boots on the ground opening up discussion such as this:

This touches on disease being carried over the borders, smuggling and gang activity, trafficking,
no background checks, on and on. Our advantage is that the illegals tend to hang in one area.
Maybe the Kochs can swing a deal with Jim O'Keefe and really tell the story of illegal immigration
in Texas, Florida, and California.
For now, though, yes, we have to lift up Dave Brat.

Oh, absolutely!  Most people don't understand how much they bring their 3rd world problems and culture here.  It isn't just the economics and breaking our laws.

I agree with you However, realistically, until the GOP is in charge of the Executive branch anything done legislatively will not be implemented. It will take a new Pres and strong SOHS to enforce all laws to secure the border.

I am not an isolationist, but it is time to spend some money to secure our borders. That can be funded significantly by asking some of our allies in Europe and the Pacific to handle much of their own security. We do not need to have as big a military presence in those areas as we do now.
